About Legends Fight Night
This unique event celebrates its tenth year, and continues to grow in popularity. Originally founded in 2003 by a small group of friends and colleagues in the institutional investment industry, “Fight Night” has emerged as one of the “IT CHARITY EVENTS” in Chicago. Over the last 9 years, the event has raised in excess of $1.9M, benefitting such charities as Bear Necessities Pediatric Care Foundation, The Butkus Foundation and the Marines Semper Fi Fund.
Founder Neal Wilkinson and the Board of Directors, in an aim to extend the charitable reach of “Fight Night” and other fundraising efforts, launched the OpenField Foundation (O.F.F.) in 2011, O.F.F. served as a charitable fundraising platform with a clear mandate to support (via grants, gifts and donations) small, new and underserved charities whose cause addresses the needs of individuals in one of the following three areas: Sports/Wellness - Military Veterans - Children.
Each year, proceeds of Legends Fight Night will benefit the broad efforts of OpenField Foundation, as well as a “Benefactor Charity, carefully selected by O.F.F.’s Board of Directors. The 2012 “Benefactor Charity is:
In addition, each year Legends Fight Night will honor a “Legend” in the world of sports, the arts, business and/or philanthropy. A percentage of the proceeds of “Fight Night” will be directed to the charity of each honoree’s choosing. We are proud to announce that this year’s Legend Honoree is: Mike Ditka.
